We are currently working with a publishing company to release an uplifting book about chronic illness, and we’re looking for writers to submit their personal stories! All royalties from sales of the book will be donated to Spoonie Survival Kits and used to fund the creation of future kits. We’ll pick a handful of the stories to be in the book, so think of it as a competition!
We’re wanting stories structured as letters, as if you’re writing a letter to your chronic illness. We want the letters to be honest reflections of the seriousness of long-term conditions, but we also want them to be as humorous, lighthearted and entertaining as possible too. In other words, be honest and objective, but don’t think of this as a sob story. The more entertaining your stories are, the better!
Please keep your stories around 1000 words in length, structured as a letter beginning with ‘Dear [your chronic illness],’ and signing off with your name. The chosen letters will all be professionally proofread but please try and keep your spelling and grammar as accurate as possible! The letters may also be amended slightly but we’ll run any changes by you beforehand.
Our deadline for submissions is 1st January 2017, so get on it lovelies!
When you’re ready, please email completed letters to firstname.lastname@example.org, including your name, address and contact email. Feel free to contact me with any queries too, though it may take a while for me to get back to you at the moment!
Good luck and happy writing!
